 Topic:

Controlling Hospital Flows and Infected Population Control

 Abstract:

Population dynamics research, once rooted in early sociology, has since expanded into fields such as biology, epidemiology, evolutionary game theory, and economics. While most existing studies have focused on prediction rather than control, and have relied on deterministic models with minimal noise, real-world population changes—such as those observed during the COVID-19 pandemic—occur in complex, unpredictable environments.

To address these limitations, we propose a novel analysis based on the paradigm of online control. This approach defines a set of linear dynamical systems capable of naturally modeling evolving populations, and incorporates a broad range of multi-linear optimization conditions that reflect concentration-driven transmission. We present experimental results demonstrating the algorithm’s effectiveness in nonlinear scenarios such as infectious disease spread and microbial growth.
